October 2012 Blog

BMW 118D M Sport 2010
ECU Remapped 02/10/2012
Gain 40BHp 80Nm
ECU out on the bench to tune this BMW but no bother to us we have remapped so many of these now we can get it all done in 2 hours – the results are amazing bhp torque smoother power delivery and faster throttle response well worthwhile

Range Rover Vogue TDV8 4.4
ECU Remapped 02/10/2012
Gain 45BHp 120Nm
Not the first car we have remapped for a professional footballer but this one was Premiership level in his day playing for Aston Villa – No supprise he likes his bling with the full Overfinch kit but also wants the go to go with the show thats where FlashRemapping come in – not many can remap these big rangies but no problem for us again just over 2 hour job

Peugeot 206 2.0Hdi 90Bhp
ECU Remapped 03/10/2012
Gain 30BHp 60Nm
Stu has had this car from pretty much new – its actually quite a special one with beefier suspension brakes even the interior has rc seat all from the factory – he has previously had a tuning box but that caused problems with the engine cutting out ( probably due to torque limiters being exceeded ) a proper remap will not cause these problems and Stu was delighted with the results
VW GOLF TDi Match 1.9 105 BHp
ECU remapped 03/10/2012
Gain 38BHp 75Nm
I forgot to take a photo of this one – so here is one I remapped earlier – vey Blue Peteresque
Always a solid car a Golf but 105 bhp will not excite you – remapped they are much much better
Mercedes E350 cdi BlueEfficiency
ECU Remapped 04/10/2012
Gain 42bhp 95Nm
Notyhing too difficult to tune here once you find the ecu
burried behind the offside front wheelarch here you can see the plugs detatched after ecu removal
Mercedes e350 Cdi BlueEfficiency
And here is the ecu open on the bench ready for tuning
Many tuners are not able or willing to do this tri-core remapping
When choosing a tuner make sure they offer a full range of services, OBD , TriCore, BDM, and chipping – if there is a problem there may be a need to have a second method
Here at FlashRemapping not only do we offer all these services
Range Rover Sport 2.7 tdv6 188BHp
ECU Remapped 05/10/2012
gain 38 bhp 95Nm
Steve asked us to remap his Rangie and when we arrived and read the file we found it had remapped before as it was non ori file and stamped in the file by a very well known tuner
On investigation the map was rubbish no fueling changes, smoke limiters changed ( hmm wonder why his egr valves had given up ) and no change to the torque limiters – This map is one that is easier to explain – it is the boost pressure limiter – axis are rpm/load  red is ori, yellow modified as you can see limiters had been increased but not over the whole rev range which is crazy, a proper map would give a smoother percentage increase over the whole area
I could go on about how bad this was, not dangerous but just bad but I would run out of space
Anyway we have now modified the car correctly and much more powerful it is too – will report back on fuel economy as I hear but usualy 3-4 mpg improvements from this vehicle
Range Rover Evoque SD4
ECU Remapped 09/10/2012
Gain 30Bhp 60Nm
I am not sure what part of teh Evoque Victoria Beckham designed ( if anything ) but what Range Rover have perfected is giving you that feeling of being special – Armed with 190Bhp stock from what is basically a Transit engine will always give us some room for improvements – 30BHp 60Nm doesnt set the world alight but certainly gives it more get up and go and better fuel economy
Mercedes Viano 2.2 cdi
ECU Remapped 09/10/2012
Gain 33Bhp 65Nm
When you have a large family you need something a bit serious to carry them all around in – The Viano is a genuine 8 full sized seated vehicle and comes well equipped apart from a lack of performance – not a problem once we have had our hands on it for an hour – despite being a 2012 vehicle we can remap these via the OBD port
Range Rover Evoque SD4
ECU Remapped 09/10/2012
Gain 30BHp 60Nm
No you are not seeing double this was the second Evoque we tuned today again in white and again the SD4 with 190BHp stock and again a very happy customer.
Toyota Avensis 2.0 D4-D 116Bhp
V-BOX fitted 10/10/2012
Gain 25bhp 50Nm
For years it has been a struggle to tune a Toyota D4-D
the Denso ECU has not been cracked to allow remapping – so what can we do for Toyota drivers who are frustrated with the lack of power

The V-BOX will now fit onto the common rail wiring loom handily placed at the the very front of the engine – on the Avensis this means fitment in just a couple of minutes
The V-BOX is adjustable for power/economy initially we have set this one up quite mildly giving a better urge low down now starting to pull from 1800rpm rather than 2000, It will be covering a huge mileage over the next two weeks and we may tweek it to be more powerful but will also report back on the economy in the near future
Subaru Impreza WRX 2.0
ECU Remapped 10/10/2012
Gain 30BHp 55Nm Peak   45BHp 80Nm through the rev range
Ignore the STi badge on the back this was a pretty stock WRX with just a fat rear exhaust box so a stage 1 remap was what was required – widening the power band making a much nicer drive – happy days
Mercedes CLC 220CDi
ECU Remapped 13/10/2012
Gain 38BHp 75Nm
Michael was complaining of a big hesitation in response from his Mercedes – we fault code checked the car and nothing showing so we remapped it – this improved the throttle response and performance but I was not happy – I know these vehicles and it should be better than this – A common fault on these vehicles is the MAF ( Mass Air Flow meter ) To check if it is working correctly we uplugged it and again took the car for a drive – In fact it drove better than before – this signals a MAF that is not working correctly as once unplugged it will ether take a stock reading or a reading from the MAP (manifold absolute Pressure ) sensor – It is now booked in for the MAF to be changed and it will then drive with the response and vigour the car and owner deserves ( and massively improved fuel economy too )
VW Touran 1.9 tdi 105 Bluemotion
ECU Remapped and DPF Remaoved 15/10/2012
Gain 38BHp 75Nm
Another VW with a completely blocked DPF removed by FlashRemapping and JRM Auto Repairs of Medway City Estate
A word of warning here if your dpf is blocked and your dashboard lit up like a christmas tree, dont hesitate get us to look at it driving around in limp mode for too long will knacker your turbo and you will be looking at a hefty repair bill on top of replacing or removing the DPF
BMW 520D M sport 177BHp
ECU Remapped 17/10/2012
Gain 40BHp 80Nm
Chris will be using his BMW for towing so the extra power will help do this with ease and with much better fuel economy – he will also benefit from sharper throttle response and and beter overtaking during all driving conditions
BMW 118D ES 143Bhp
ECU Remapped 18/10/2012
Gain 40BHp 80Nm
Ignore the M-Sport alloys this was a 118d ES edition
and a little underpowered at 143 bhp as it has a 2 litre engine same at the 120d – no worries for us nice gains will put it just ahead of a stock 120d and better fuel economy too
VW Transporter T5 1.9Tdi 104 BHp
ECU Remapped 19/10/2012
Gain 38BHp 75Nm
You just cannot beat a Transporter in you are anything in the building trade – solid and reliable but just a little underpowered but even this 1.9 litre 8 valve unit will show excellent gains in performance and economy – Its a must have
Aston Martin Vantage V8
ECU Remapped 19/10/2012
Gain 28BHp 35Nm
Ok it wasnt short on power to start with but its all about the way it drives – you would hardly recognise the drive after our remap on the Aston – sharp and crisp – Nice way to finish up on a friday
1.6 Tdi VAG  Sucessfully tuned today
The news I know many of you have been waiting for
We have today sucessfully tuned a 1.6 Tdi VAG vehicle
I have not posted performance gains as we did not have time to plonk her on the dyno but a quick test drive on the road showed a much better turn of pace and a much more lively drive – I will post the dyno graph next week once we have the dyno printout
For those of you who want to know how we did this when others are not as successful – we have to remove the ecu from the vehicle and unlock the ecu – after this we can tune is via the obd port
Audi a6 3.0 tdi v6 233 bhp
ECU Remapped 20/10/2012
Gain 50BHp 110Nm
The Le Mans edition of the A6 is littered with toys – nothing much more required in the options department but a 233 bhp 3.0 v6 is a lot better for having a tune – these never feel like 50 bhp gains as we make them so smooth but rest assured after adaptation this will give 280+bhp and a huge torque gain that will take it well past licence loosing speeds very quickly
Citroen c4 Grand Pcasso 2.0 hdi 136bhp
ECU Remapped 22/10/2012
gain 35 bhp 75nm
The semi auto gearbox in these vehicles are horrid – they change gear like a learner on their first lesson
Not much we can do about that but its definately a little sharper after a remap and some tinkering with the gearbox torque limiters
Land Rover Discovery 3 2.7 tdv6
ECU Remapped 25/10/2012
Gain 36Bhp 85Nm
A big difference on these tdv6 Land Rovers makes them much more enjoyable to drive and improves fuel economy by 2-4 mpg as well – bit of a no brainer for Land Rover or Range Rover owners
Audi A4 2.0 TDi Remap
Audi A4 2.0 TDi 140BHp
DPF Removed and ECU Remapped 26/10/2012
Gain 45BHp 90Nm
With the clogged DPF removed and teh car remapped this will be a different beast altogether and much more economical
Ford Transit TDCi Remapping
Ford Transit 2.2 TDCi 85Ps
ECU Remapped 29/10/2012
Gain 30Bhp 60Nm
Another commercial vehicle through the FlashRemapping doors – This time Gardener Steve was looking for more power from his 85bhp Transit – Not only do we make this around 115Bhp it will be smoother with better throttle response and more mpg too especially when towing – No wonder so many commercial drivers are now turning to remapping for their vehicles
Ford Focus ST Remapping
Ford Focus 2    2.5 ST
ECU Remapped 31/10/2012
Gain 50BHp 100Nm
Nice way to finish the month here – I doubt there are better gains from a car in this league – In fact I dont think there is a better value HOT Hatch out there at the moment this was a 57 plate with leather and 42k miles around the 7 grand mark – that is good value – Once remapped they are in a different league, so much better than stock, The customer was trying not to grin like a Cheshire Cat when returning from the test drive but just couldn’t – Grin factor sucessfully installed
