Land Rover are a British car manufacturer incorporated in 1948, based in Gaydon, that are a specialist four-wheel-drive car maker. They are owned by TATA motors of India and form part of their Jaguar/ Land Rover subsidiary. They are the second oldest 4WD specialist after Jeep.Initially only producing one model ( now known as the Series 1 ) they now produce three models, the smallest being the Freelander in 3 or 5 door versions, the utilitarian Defender which is a favorite of farmers and those needing the off road capabilities, and the ever popular Discovery which model after model has become more luxurious.
