FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

WHY IS MY VEHICLE NOT OPTIMISED BY THE MANUFACTURER?

When a manufacturer sets up an ECU it has to be able to cope in many different climates from cold Northern Europe to hot North Africa. It also has to be able to cope with owners who infrequently service their vehicles and varying fuel qualities throughout the marketplace. Also, directives aimed at manufacturers require them to reduce torque to below 3000RPM therefore your car will not pull as efficiently from low down in the rev range and you change gear more frequently (actually using more fuel and increasing CO2 emissions).

DO YOU REMAP COMMERCIAL VEHICLES?

Yes. We have worked with many fleet operators to reduce the transport costs to their companies. Typically fuel accounts for 35% of fleets’ costs. We also offer discounts for fleet operators, see our pricing page for details.

DOES IT MATTER IF MY CAR IS PETROL OR DEISEL?

No, FlashRemapping can improve all vehicle’s performance and fuel economy. Turbo diesel and turbo petrol cars have more scope for improvements, fuel injection and normally aspirated vehicles will see improvements and a smoother power curve.

IS THIS REMAP REVERSIBLE?

Yes. FlashRemapping retain the original files to your car which can be reflashed back to your vehicle.

MY CAR IS NOT ON YOUR LIST?

Many modern cars share their engine/ECU formats – so if your vehicle is not on the list, please contact us with as many details of your vehicle as possible and we will let you know if a remap is available. Unfortunately some vehicles are not remappable!

WHAT CHANGES ARE MADE TO THE CAR?

This is purely a software update. The only thing you will notice is a decrease in your fuel consumption (and more money in your pocket!) or more power if you choose a Performance Tune.

WHAT ABOUT CO2 EMISSIONS?

CO2 emissions are directly linked to the burning of fuel. FlashRemapping will reduce your fuel consumption therefore producing less CO2 emissions.

IS THERE ANY RISK TO MY VEHICLE?

No. FlashRemapping will not increase the parameters within the software beyond a safe limit, however we do recommend regular servicing and general upkeep of your vehicle. Our maps are from the leading file writers around Europe.
