VW T6 Transporter Remap

Gain 68Bhp 150Nm
This was the bosch edc17 ecud 102 Bhp version which engine wise is the same as the 140Bhp one although with a weaker 5 speed gearbox so when we tune these as much as we can match 140ps software we have to be careful with the torque as the gearbox can grumble. The edc17 is 95% of the time remappable via the obd port if we have matching software but unfortunately we didnt in this case so we had to remove the ecu to tune on the bench – all completed in 2 hours and back to a happy customer
BMW Z4 20I Remap

First job today with our friends at Blue Flash Tuning was this BMW Z4, a 2013 model with the 2.0 litre turbocharged engine which is identical to the engine used in the 28i. This gives us masses of scope for tuning – changing the maps to that of the 28i initially gains 60Bhp 80Nm and then a tune on top of that. the Bosch MEVD17.2.4 ECU needs bench tuning and we have perfected a way of accessing the boot pin without opening the ecu – Needless to say the car is a completely different animal now from 181bhp up to 281 Bhp and torque from 270 to 420nm – all done in 3 hours
Range Rover Evoque SD4 Remap

Nigel has had many cars remapped with FlashRemapping but this time it was the turn of his wife to let us loose on her birthday present. The Evoque uses a Bosch EDC17CP42 Ecu which was origionally a bench tune only but now we can tune them via the diagnostic port. The gains are pretty good most noticeable on mid range pick up. Better fuel economy too

Despite being a 2011 vehicle this is OBD remap as we had a copy of original software for the Bosch edc17cp46 ecu – so a quick i/d and modification followed by a 8 minute write and the car is now as perky as it should always have been

Off down into Kent to Pop Larkins for a remap on this Mercedes CLA – Missing the power of the old Roller the CLA needed a bit of a pep up and thats exactly what it got. No sign of Catherine Zeta Jones tho, what a shame
BMW F20 116D Remap

The latest generation of 1 series BMW 116D uses a 1.6 litre engine rather than a 2.0 litre accompanied with a twin power turbo which is basically a variable geometry turbo. The ecu is still a Bosch EDC17 this one is a CP50 so requires bench tuning with extra GPT leads. Reading is rather slow but writing is quick and the car is back on the road with added oomph in 2 hours.
Citroen Dispatch 1.6 HDi Remap

Mid sized vans like this are confined to citroen/peugeot and caddy maxis – not as big as a transit but bigger than a Caddy – pretty useful for trademen liek plumbers and electricians- The 1.6 HDi is only 90Bhp in stock form so if needs a little help which we can do in under an hour with the Bosch edc16c34 ECU – fats read and write the van is now much nicer to drive even if laden with a full kit
BMW E61 530D Remap

You will have read this story on many tuners facebook and blogs a car comes in and the file is read and its been remapped before and what a lucky escape the remap was dangerous/terrible/incompetent. Well this car had been remapped before and on comparison with a stock file it was a very good job – not to give exact details but boost up by roughly 10% ( including atmospheric ) injector pulse width max increase 8% , no rail pressure changes and aprox 30% on torque limiters – pretty much as we would tune the car and a very suitable tune for a car of this age and mileage. We left the tune alone and just added the requested EGR delete and the customer was on his way

Huge gains in power from the 4.2 litre V8 diesel. Powered by twin edc17cp44 Ecus. But not that hard to do as we had a matching original file we can modify the software and then a 10 minute write to each ecu

A really good gain on these 109 Bhp Hyundais as they did 2 versions 109bhp and 126Bhp buit both with 260Nm of torque – we lined up and adjusted the boost and torque limiters to line up with the 126 version and then mapped that in our conventional way – the difference is quiet impressive even through the slush box
BMW E36 328i Remap

a 1997/98 BMW 328I can still be remapped using the “pac-man” plug under the bonnet – The MSD41 ECU Reads and writes really quickly – This car has also been fitted with the M50 inlet manifold from an E30 that really helps air flow and gives a really good power gain – Once remapped all the power is revealed with improved throttle response too

Second remap for Chris – following on from his BMW320D he has now go this lovely 2014 Audi A3 1.8TFSi with 177Bhp standard – Now despite having a siemens simos 12.1 ECU the process works the same way is in the Bosch ecus in that if we have a copy of original software on our database we can remap via the OBD port – yes of course we did and Chris is back grinning from his test drive just over an hour later

Nice quick read and write times on this late 2008 Merc – surprisingly the EDC16 ecu read under k-line rather than Can which we normally associate with pre2007 vehicles but data is all the same – The big battery stabilizer is out for the write which can supply 100amps of 13,5 volts as the fans come on and can suck power from the battery very quickly – no dramas with this attached tho
The car is now much more lively and responsive and will return better mpg too
Audi Q7 DPF Clean and correction

In today was this 2011 Audi Q7 3.0 TDi with Mil light on – It had been to the main dealer who had condemned the DPF and quoted nearly 3 grand for replacement – with just under 50k miles this is unlikely we cannot resolve the problem. Methodical testing of components revealed a faulty pressure sensor – replaced and cleaned and the car back on the road in a couple of hours for a small fraction of the price – laughably a new DPF would not have resolved this problem either

Toyotas have not been as popular as german cars for remapping probably because the Denso ECUs that they generally use were always a bit of a pain to get a read from – In the last year or so big developments have meant we can tune these via the OBD port ( when an original file is available ) and that was the case here. So even when taking a while to write the file the job is complete in under 2 hours and the already pretty swift Toyota is now a proper little pocket rocket

We often get asked what is the best car to remap and we give it some thought Mercs, Bimmers, LandRover/RangeRovers all possibilities, but these are the nuts to remap – 136Bhp stock with an EDC16 ecu – they read in a couple of minutes and write in the same time. Power difference is immense they go from a decent hatch to a hooligan – more power is available too but the clutch in these is made from paper mache – and will slip with any more torque – a shame but still a monumental difference in the drive

After remapping Rudie’s Civic we were entrusted to his missus Merc – a 2014 W205 so the latest shape which still uses the Delphi ecu but now takes 100 minutes to read the 4Mb file – not a problem as Rudie is good company and has supplied us with coffee and bacon rolls – He does know how to get to make sure we give a top job – The write is only 6 minutes and a very happy customer returned from the test drive – when you commute 90 miles a day the fuel savings will soon cover the cost of the remap
Audi TT 225 Remap

Not for the first time we have had an Audi TT in and the owner has searched out a very nice older 1.8T version when they could easily afford a later 2.0 Tfsi version – It seems the original lines have fans over the later ones – They came in 3 different Bhp versions 150, 180 and the 225 – This one is the BAM engine code so a 225PS ( 221Bhp ) in stock form – only 80k miles and not previously mapped – The me7 ecu is no problem to read and write via the OBD port and the customer is enjoying the extra power in under an hour
VW Touran 2.0 TDi 170 Remap

Fitted with the Siemens PPD1.2 ecu this 2009 Touran can be tuned via the OBD plug. Gains are very good on all 2.0 TDi VAG group vehicles wether using Bosch or Siemens ecus

Second Evoque we have remapped in as many weeks – despite Posh Spice being involved in the design ( hmmm doubt she did that much ) they do drive quite nicely considering the engines humble beginnings in a Transit van – Now they have a little less of the footballers wife image they do make a nice car to own and map up very nicely too
