More and More companies are tuning their fleet for improved fuel economy – these Caddys service HGVs and carry a fair amount of weight so we have given them a slightly stronger than BlueOptimize file that will make them perform better and with nicely improved mpg

BMW E60 520D 177 ECU Remapping

The 25th build week of 2007 meant an edc17 ecu and upgrade from 163 to 177 BHp in the BMW 520D so this is no slouch anyway but now approximately 217BHp its a properly nippy car and mpg will be improved as well

The Transporter is the king of vans – just incredibly reliable and robust but 85BHp couldn’t pull the skin off a custard – Remap it – 123BHp and more torque just makes the van so much better

12 years old and still a solid car – this one had the CAT removed so we did a performance remap and Lamda delete to remove the pesky MIL light on the dashboard – lots better now

This is a brand new Aug 2013 Merc E220 Cdi and while I was expecting to see a Delphi DCM 3.5 ECU I was wrong – it seems Mercedes in their wisdom have returned to using the Delphi CRD 3.1 ECU that was used a couple of years ago – maybe they are using up stock, maybe returning to what was more reliable – either way its still remappable down the plug and very nice gains for what is a very nice car

Nice little car the Mini Cooper with 115BHp in stock form – while not massive gains the remap has made it more sporty and revs more freely

Audi A4 DPF Removal and Remap

Another diesel car that only drives around town with a blocked dpf – coil light on and mil light too
so removed dpf cleared fault codes and drove the car till the ash counter had come down then remapped the ecu – no more problems

The Scudo with 140bhp is OK power wise but this one had a blocked dpf – we believe caused by a faulty pressure sensor – but too late as the dpf was blocked – we removed the DPF and remapped the ecu improved economy – Mark certainly looked full of smiles replacing the DPF box here – probably as hes the only one short enough to work under the Fiat

1999 on a T reg and still tunable via the OBD port – OK this is an exception as not all of these vehicles will read and write via the plug but this one did and while its no Ferrari the extra BHp is most welcome as it only had 75BHp to start with and that was 14 years and 120k miles ago

Always great gains from the Audi 2.0 tdi engines. This one mated to an automatic gearbox but making the drive a lot more lively – the wet roads didn’t help with wheel spinning on the test drive

The German saloon car market is legendary but most are choosing turbo diesel vehicles but the 6 cylinder petrol engines are always good and this auto gives around 26-27mpg which isn’t too bad as they are cheaper to buy and service so if you don’t do huge mileage they make sense – remapping is good too with greatly improved throttle response and smoother power delivery

The Hawkeye is the replacement for the bugeye and has a 2.5 litre engine rather than the 2 litre bugeye   Nicely tunable vehicles these making a wider more usable power band – the customer also commented on how much faster the turbo spooled up and how much smoother the delivery was

With the later BMWs that require tuning on the bench we also have the option of fitting a V-Box diesel tuning box – while not quite the same gains as a remap they give an improved performance and economy too and are a cheaper option

Even with 80k miles up its trumpet this E90 was spot on felt really solid still and as e all know the 6 cylinder diesel lump from the Bavarians is a peach with 231 BHp stock and 42mpg average even with a slush box – but theres still a load more to come 42BHp and 90Nm with a sharper throttle response makes it very close to 335d spec

The 4Motion version of the Passat has a Siemens ecu like the 170BHp version although this is only 140BHp – Usually the 140BHp version has a Bosch ecu but this is no problem – 1 hour after starting the car is now quicker, smoother and giving better mpg – now who says you can’t have you cake and eat it

The 1.8 litre 115BHp version of the focus is different to the 1.6 and 2.0 in that it has an iron block rather that the alloy one – Its also older in its initial design but still with a high pressure common rail so very tuneable especially today when 115BHp[ just isn’t up to it. 145BHp now that’s a lot better, flat spots removed and more power everywhere in the rev range and improved economy

2001 is one of the earlier ME7 ecus that can be tuned with a conventional OBD plug – earlier ME5 ecus have to have a special lead – anyways nice gains from the 3.4 litre Porsche making a nice difference in mid range pick up and drivability

Its been a while since I tuned a 1.9Tdi with the Bosch edc15ECU but all that research and development we undertook years ago is still as relevant today – what a difference it makes so much more urge from the solid Audi a4 – Bullet proof engines and galvanised bodies means even at around 10 years old these Audis are still great cars
